Beginning production in 1997, the BOND Estates project was founded by Bill Harlan, Robert Levy and Mary Maher with the intent to identify and produce wine from small separate plots to deliver terroir-specific characteristics individual to each of the five single vineyard wines in the portfolio. Paul Roberts, Master Sommelier, joined the team as BOND Estates Director after serving as wine director for the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group, overseeing the wine programs at its six restaurants, including the Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning French Laundry, the Best of Award of Excellence-winning Per Se, and two Award of Excellence-winning Bouchons.
