Biography

An estimated 1 in 4 people in the world have had or will have cancer in their lifetime. That means that most of us will be affected by knowing someone who has been faced with cancer. And yet, it’s barely talked about…especially in the workplace. Conversations about cancer in the workplace are the white elephant in the office. And yet, 92% of employees feel that their support at work positively impacts their health.

Laurie’s speeches and con-demand courses are created to help demystify the stigmas, the negative core beliefs and offer first-hand communication tools for having positive, healthy and appropriate conversations at work. Laurie’s story also provides a framework for others to redefine how they look at their own lives. Audiences (live and virtual) leave feeling courageous, reinvigorated and ready to be their own advocate of their personal journey. Laurie has motivated corporate audiences around the world with her uplifting story. She also coaches leadership groups with a focus on honing communication skills of executives at Fortune 500 companies.

As an effortless volunteer for multiple non-profit organizations, Laurie has served as a board member for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network from 2009 to 2017 and is the immediate past chair of the board. She has served on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Board for the National Committee for the Performing Arts with the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and was one of the founding board members of the Aspen Center for Integral Health in Colorado.
